About the Wall of Sound:
Back in '74, the Dead debuted the Wall of Sound at the Cow Palace, and let me tell you, it was a revelation. Imagine a wall of over 600 speakers, weighing a hefty 75 tons, that bathed the crowd in pure, unadulterated sound. This wasn't just loud, it was crystal clear, far groovier than anything out there. Designed by the legendary Owsley Stanley (better known as Bear), it was one of the biggest sound systems ever built for touring. Though the Dead's time with the Wall was short-lived due to its complexity, it left an indelible mark on live music, paving the way for the amazing sound systems we experience today.
So come on down, celebrate this sonic masterpiece, and let the good times roll!
